When I first saw this piece of wood, I really liked the knots it had. I knew there was a nicer piece just around the next corner. So up the hill I went, zigzagging my way up checking out every piece of Manzanita I came across. After several trips up and down the property, I ended up standing and staring at this piece. I started to see faces looking back at me from the knots. I hope I start trusting my first instinct more often. It would sure give me more time to carve.
